Video poker is usually played against a machine, which displays the player’s cards on a screen. Combining elements of poker and slots, this form poker is one of the few games in the casino where you can actually have a realistic expectation of winning, as opposed to depending on the pure luck of slot machine games or roulette.

The player places a bet and the video poker machine deals five cards from a standard 52-card pack. The player then has one opportunity to hold or discard any number of unwanted cards, and is dealt an equal number of replacement cards from the deck.

Poker Affiliate Program Internet Marketing Tips

August 31, 2008

Once you have made the decision to become a poker affiliate for an online poker room, it is very important that you turn your attentions to internet marketing techniques. Marketing your poker affiliate business through the use of internet marketing tactics is one of the easiest ways to generate a massive income with poker affiliate programs.

Though many people may not view being an online poker affiliate as a real business, it is most definitely a viable way to create serious wealth. However, to earn any kind of serious money, you must take things seriously and apply a lot of hard work. Becoming a poker affiliate is not a way to get rich overnight and anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest.

To become a successful poker affiliate, your main goal should be traffic generation. When creating the content on your website, be sure that you target the right keywords as this will help you bring in search engine visitors. If you fail to target the proper keyword phrases, people are going to have a very difficult time finding your website.

Also, a solid tracking software is an essential tool for any poker affiliate using internet marketing as a way of building their business. A professional stats program will help as it will tell you exactly where your traffic is coming from. Successful affiliate internet marketing is a much more difficult thing to do if you don’t have a way of tracking your results.

Another great way to promote online poker rooms as an affiliate is to publish a regular internet poker tips and strategy newsletter. Build a list of people who are interested in playing poker online and regularly email them with helpful advice, new bonus codes, and more. Using email can be an extremely powerful tool when you are promoting poker rooms and I strongly recommend that every online poker affiliate start using this to their advantage.

Freeroll poker tournaments the greatest deal of all

August 31, 2008

Freeroll poker tournaments are daily events that happen on a lot of the best online poker websites. Freerolls are much loved by the poker playing community as they offer the poker players the chance to win some real money without losing any. The entry to these freerolls is ? as the name suggests ? free and prize money can range from a few dollars for a placing to hundreds of dollars for winning the big freeroll Texas Holdem poker tournaments.

So why do the poker sites have freerolls? Is it because of their extremely generous nature and the fact that they make vast sums of money so they feel a moral obligation to give some of it back?

What do you think!

No of course it isn?t, the reason that the big poker websites offer freerolls is to attract people to their site.

Here?s the theory in a nutshell ? You hear that a site has a great freeroll, it costs you nothing to enter and you can win $100. You think ?Great!? and you go along to the site and get registered as a member so that you can play the freeroll. You play and finish early and are annoyed because you feel you should have done better, or you go close to winning and so you?re looking for some more action. What do you do? You spend some money at the site and play another poker game!

Always check the freerolls for cash-out requirements, you will nearly always need to play some hands for real money before they let you take the money out. Often this is on a 1=1 basis, so if you win $20 at the freeroll poker tournament you will need to have played for $20 in real money in order for you to be able to withdraw the money.

Texas Holdem Poker Get An Edge With This Software

August 31, 2008

The proliferation of Texas Holdem Poker tournament coverage on TV has resulted in a tremendous swelling in the number of fans. The number of poker room on the internet have also followed suit and given rise to a plethora of sites with games, tips, techniques and assorted schemes. You can even buy top quality poker supplies at your local discount store. But your local store doesn?t have a chance to compete with internet merchants like Pachi Paradice and PokerNStuff . Besides a vast array of chips, cards and poker tables, you can buy supplies and tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, slots, baccarat, bingo, keno, money wheels along with a whole assortment of other gambling things you never thought existed. But the one thing that has really caught my eye was an inexpensive piece of software that should give a playing edge to even the most skillful online poker player. Texas Calculatem Software is the name. I?d check this out immediately! Simply put, you go to a poker room and place the software icon over the poker table - from then on, it tracks the game. It gives you the odds on completing your hand and advises you what to do next. Talk about a handy buddy to have beside you! You can even tweak the advice it gives you based upon your style of play. Because the software doesn?t actually play the game for you, but merely tells you what to do, it?s legit. Once the word gets out on this software and is used more often, I?m sure that the online poker rooms will find a way to ban the use of this software. At the present time, this software works in more than 100 poker rooms such as 32Red Poker, 7 Sultans Poker, 888 Info, Absolute Poker, Aspinalls Poker, Avalanche Poker, Aztec Riches Poker, Bet Hold’em, Bet365 Poker, Betfair Poker, BetonUSA Poker, Betsson Poker, Big Dollar Poker, Blue Lizard Poker Room, Bodog Poker, Captain Cook’s Poker, Caribbean Sun Poker, Casino of Mayfair, CD (Club Dice) Poker, CityPoker.com, Classic Poker, Colosseum Poker, CoolBets Poker, Coral Poker, Crazy Parrot Poker, Crazy Vegas Poker, Diamond Club Poker, Doyle’s Room, Easyodds Poker, Empire Poker, Eurobet Poker, Expekt.com, Fair Poker, FHM Poker, Fish Pond Poker, Francite Poker, Full Tilt, Gaming Club Poker, Gaming Floor, GamTrak Poker, Golden Palace Poker, Golden Riviera Poker, Golden Tiger Poker, Good Gambling Guide, Grand Bay Poker, High Stakes Book Shop, Hollywood Poker, Interpoker, Intertops Poker, Ladbrokes Poker, Lady Rose Poker, Littlewoods Poker, Lucky Nugget Poker, MrBookmaker (French), MrBookmaker, Multipoker, Noble Poker, Nordic Bet, Nordic Poker, Page 3 Poker, Pacific Poker, Paradise Poker, Parbet Poker, Party Poker, PayDay Poker, Piggs Peak Poker, Playgate Poker, Pocket Rockets Poker, Poker Aces Club, Poker In Europe, Poker Metro, Poker.FR, PokerNOW, PokerPlex, Pokerroom.com, PokerStars, PowerPlayer.com, Prestige Poker, Proper Poker, Pure Gold, Racing Post, ReadaBet, RealPoker.co.uk, Ritz Club London, River Belle Poker, Roxy Poker, Royal Blue Poker, Royal Vegas Poker, Skin Poker, Spin Palace Poker, Sports Interaction Poker, Stan James Poker, ThunderLuck Poker, Tiger Poker.com, totalbet.com poker, Trident Poker, UK Pokerstars, ukbetting poker, UK-Poker.co.uk, UK-Poker.net, Ultimate Bet, VC Poker, Vegas Queens Poker, Victory Poker, Virtual City Poker, Wide World of Poker, Wild Jack Poker, William Hill Poker and Winners Only Poker. Of course, the list of poker rooms that works with this software is constantly growing as is the number of online poker rooms.

With all boom and busts scenarios, this Texas Holdem Poker craze will abate someday. Those easy pickings will become scarcer and further apart.
Where To Start For Beginners If you?re totally new to online poker and Texas Holdem Poker, I?d suggest that you start with some free money. For instance, Royal Vegas Poker will give new players $10 totally free just for signing up. There is no need to add your own money! Of course, they hope you will add your own money once you begin to enjoy the game. There are a few other poke rooms that give you this free money and most of them will match your cash with some more of their own. Those are good deals that get you acquainted with the poker rooms and give you a chance to look around until you find a place that you like and enjoy.

Online Poker Chips Away At Sexual Stereotypes

August 31, 2008

Women are being increasingly attracted to the excitement of online poker. Many professional women now shop extensively online and it?s natural that they should explore other ways of having fun and spending their money online.

According to the UK?s fastest growing poker website, Victor Chandler Poker (http://www.vcpoker.com), it?s no longer just a man?s game. One in six new players joining Victor Chandler Poker is female ? up from virtually zero just 2 years ago. The typical female player tends to be between 24 and 25, internet savvy, shops online and has a professional business career.

Why women are taking up online poker

There are 5 main reasons why women are taking up online poker:

  • Poker is gaining a lot of media attention. TV games shows, high-profile tournaments and the traditional portrayal of poker in film and TV gives the game a glamorous, exciting image.
  • More and more women are playing the game professionally. The success of women players listed on the Women?s Poker Hall of Fame has created some powerful role models.
  • The web creates a safe environment. Logging on to a poker website is nowhere near as intimidating as walking into a male-dominated casino. Good online poker rooms are moderated, mostly by women.
  • Online poker caters for the novice player in a way that was not possible before the web. First, the anonymity means no-one has to worry about looking stupid. Second, there are extensive tips, articles and tutorials online that rapidly educate the novice player.
  • Games can be played just for fun or for small stakes. One fear is getting into a game where the stakes are continually rising. But fixed cost games mean that if women want to bet, they know exactly how much they stand to win or lose.

Anecdotal evidence from the gambling industry suggests that traditional female traits such as assessing difficult situations, taking in information from multiple sources, make women ideal poker players.

But do women really make good poker players?

Research from Cambridge Professor, Simon Baron-Cohen in his book ?The Essential Difference? suggests that men and women do show different personality traits. These traits undoubtedly influence how both men and women play poker.

Professor Baron-Cohen identified three brain types ? the female brain, the male brain and the balanced brain:

  • In the female brain called the E-type, empathizing is the dominant characteristic
  • In the male brain called the S-type, systemizing is the dominant characteristic
  • In the balanced brain called the B-type, both characteristics are finely balanced.

According to Professor Baron-Cohen the female/male difference is not absolute but on average, more women have E-type brains and more men have S-type brains. His conclusions:

  • Women tend to be better at decoding non-verbal communication, picking up subtle nuances and judging a person?s character. Even online, players exhibit certain ?poker tells? that can indicate the strength of their hands.
  • Introduced to new situations, women will stand and watch while men rush in, trying to be the centre of attention. The ability to observe and assess other players before joining in brings an advantage
  • Males show more direct aggression while women tend to show indirect aggression.

Women are becoming more aggressive

And if that was not enough to intimidate the male poker player, research from Purdue University suggests that they will face even stiffer competition from women in the future.

Social psychology Professor Amanda Dickman surveyed over 800 adults on the personality characteristics of men and women and found that women are increasingly exhibiting personality traits typically associated with males.

According to Dickman, “Women are perceived as having become much more assertive, independent, and competitive over the years.”

The future of women?s poker online

Research shows that women do indeed have certain personality traits that predispose them to be good poker players. Add to this a layer of aggression and experience and it seems inevitable that potent and successful women poker players will emerge.

Online poker websites have already noted a significant growth in women players. The market savvy among them will be quick to see the opportunity and provide facilities and tournaments to encourage more women to play.

Basic Jacks or Better Video Poker Strategy

August 30, 2008

Video Poker is a game of skill - and using the simple combination of playing strategy and mathematical know-how, can be beat. Take note of the “pay schedule” shown on the front of each
machine, and look particularly at the most important information - how much the machine
will pay out for a Full-House versus a Flush.

An advanced video poker player will also realise that a “Jacks-or-Better” machine - classed as a 9/6 machine for paying out 9 coins : 1 for every Full House and 6 : 1 for every Flush, can be beaten using perfect Basic Video Poker Strategy.

Another machine offering the advanced video poker player an edge is the 10/6 Deuces Wild machine. These odds have been proven as
a result of computer modelling. For the other machines - even if a player plays the Perfect Video Poker Strategy game, he will still not win, though will have fun playing!

There are set rules defining Basic Video Poker Srategy whether playing online or in a casino - much like the Basic Strategy for Blackjack,?

Jacks-or-Better Video Poker Strategy

  • In any hand holding a Jack, unless the hand is already a winner! - 4 to an open-ended Straight,
    4 to a Flush or 3 to a Straight
Flush or Royal Flush - reject all cards only keeping the Jack
  • In any hand holding only 1 card Jack or above, keep the single high card
and reject all other cards and redraw.
  • In any hand holding 1 pair lower than Jacks, keep the pair and reject all
other cards - unless the hand is 4 to a Straight or 4 to a Flush
  • In any hand holding a 2-pair, keep both pair and reject the odd-card.
  • In any hand holding 3-of-a-kind keep the 3-of-a-kind and reject the other
    2 cards.
  • In any hand holding 4 to a Straight, keep all 4 Straight cards and re-draw -
unless the Straight draw is NOT open-ended and the hand is holding a
    Jack)
  • In any hand holding 4 to a Flush, keep the 4 Flush - unless the hand holds 3 to the Royal in which case you would draw to the Royal
    Flush
  • In any hand holding 4-of-a-kind, hold everything since a 1-card
draw will not improve the cards.
  • In any hand holding 3 to a Royal Flush, reject everything else and
go for the Royal - unless the hand is already a Straight Flush!

Practice these strategies whist playing - perhaps even print this page out to
refer to the Basic Video Poker strategies until they become 2nd nature. Go on…get the skill and hit those machine!

Playing Holdem Poker Online Tricks And Tips

August 30, 2008

You must always try and add tricks and let’s say dishonesty to your game in order to stand a better chance of not getting read by the other players. If you always check when your hand isn’t great, but not as bad to fold, and if you always bet or raise when you have a very good hand that requires a risk then you are playing it honest all the way. And this can turn against you, because other more attentive players can figure out your game pattern and they might use their new knowledge to control your game.

When you are on the flop and you are the last or among the last players to take an action, then you can just raise the bet with a drawing hand here. It is very possible that our opponents check when the turn comes and you can also check in this case if you don’t get the cards you need or expect. However if you get what you needed you can bet as well here. The whole situation you have created this way will end up saving you money when you check and your hand doesn’t become better and it will make you win a lot of money when your hand gets better. If the situation occurs and you are re-raised by another player it will cost you more money than predicted but it would be worth it because you just gained information this way about the other player’s hands.

When you find yourself in early position and you have a hand that should require a bet or a raise, it is better to check hoping that one of the opponents that has to act after you will bet and you can raise after that when your turn comes. This way you can get the pot much bigger. Let’s say you have in hand an A and a K. When the flop comes you can see an A, a K and a 7. If you are first you will check here. The next two players check also, but one of the players in late position will make a bet. You wait for your turn and then raise the bet that has been placed. This will cause all the other players to either fold or call you bet. But the statistics say you will get more folds than calls overall in your games. If you check and then raise when you are in an early position you get the initiative and you can control the outcome of the hand. However, if some of the other players call, this should give you an insight on their hands and it is still helpful.

Poker Tournaments Can Reap Huge Rewards

August 30, 2008

If you play poker online, then you know what a rush it is to “pull up a seat”. The advantage of playing online is you can register with any poker room and be playing a tournament within minutes, whether it’s for pin money or high stakes.

There are a number of freeroll tournaments that you can participate in on a daily basis to get some important tournament-related experience without spending a penny. Sometimes it is possible to add to your real money bankroll by slowly building it from your freeroll winnings.

These “free” to enter tournaments are also a fantastic way of winning a place at some of the largest in-person tournaments around, so you need to know how to take advantage of them. If you play your cards right you could turn a small entry fee (or even a free one) into a seat at the World Series of Poker!

The greatest thing about playing tournaments is everyone starts with the same amount of chips and you don’t have a player coming into a ring game with $500 to your $25. All players start on a level playing field with the same bankroll, it can be anything from 1000-1500 in tournament chips.

In tournaments the pot looks a little sweeter because once someone is eliminated, he or she is out. Not only will your carefully concealed A-A win you a stack of chips, it will also dump guy to your left out of the tournament!

Whatever tournaments you choose to play online, make sure you understand the prize structure. Who knows, you could be one of the lucky ones and actually win one of the satellite tournaments. What better way to become a high roller than to win a tournament that sends you to the World Series of Poker?

Short Hand Texas Holdem Poker

August 30, 2008

Short Hand Texas Poker refers poker games that have less than 4 or 5 players at the table. Being a good short hand player is vital if you’re interested in either moving up to higher level games or playing in poker tournaments where the rewards are much higher.

Short Hand Texas Holdem Poker games will quickly expose the weaknesses of most players, because you will be playing many more hands against the same players. Your opponents will eventually be able to pick up your style of play and use it to get an advantage over you - if they’re good enough.

The strategy used for these games is dramatically different from the strstegy you’ll use at a full poker room. The main reason for this is because the odds that anyone at the table will be dealt strong hands are much lower. So bluffing and semi-bluffing becomes a lot more important and being able to read your opponents’ hands will give you the edge over them.

Remember that if you get caught bluffing, it won’t be a total loss. There’s no better feeling than reading and calling your opponents bluff and often players will start to call everything. You’ll be able to use this to your advantage and maximise your profits by inviting them to bet against your strong hands.

The hand selection changes as well when playing at a table with fewer players. A winning hand could be anything with a single Ace or King, and of course any hand you’d consider to be good at a full poker table is great for Short Hand Texas Holdem Poker games.

If you’re one of the two players that posted a blind bet at the beginning of the round then connected cards (9, 8 or 7, 6) or suited cards are also hands to bet on. Otherwise you can feel confident betting on any pair or unmatched high cards.

Always try to keep the initiative, betting is always better than calling because you have the upper hand and it’s normally easier to push players off their hands when you’re dictating the play.

Now you’re be able to use the advantage of the knowledge you’ve acquired from this website to produce more profitable poker hands. Go check out the Trident Poker online casino - you can choose to play for free or real from the wide variety of short hand poker tables…
